Curious about a career in technology?Women in Technology (WiTech) is a tuition-free technology sampler designed to help you discover what field excites you the most.
Mechanical Engineering Technology graduate Lacey Reay designed, tested and built a new torch for the B.C. Summer and Winter Games.
The program is a place to learn, discover, and explore aspects of technology and connect with others with the same interests.
From mentoring to career development, the Women in Technology program empowers students by reducing barriers and delivering dynamic and inspiring courses.
Over 12 weeks,you'll be introduced tocivil and mechanical engineering, electronics, and computer science.

What you'll learn
You'll attend һԹ’s Interurban Campus five days a week for 12 weeks. While you're here, you'll take part in interactive learning activities and:
- Explore various technology fields including:
- civil engineering
- computer science
- electronics
- mechanical engineering
- Develop confidence in your ability to learn and succeed in one or more of the four fields of technology.
- Learn to use a technology perspective to analyze problems and consider solutions to real-world problems.
- Develop the academic and learning skills to pursue technology-based education or academic upgrading.
- Get accesstosupport services like free counselling and career planning.

The program is tailored to address the underrepresentation of women in the technology sector. Itis part of the provincial government’s long-term plan to meet the growing demand for talent in B.C.’s tech sector.
The programs also provide additional support for students to reduce barriers to education. These supports may include:
- Educational costs (student fees, books and supplies)
- Living cost supports
- Transportation costs
- Help navigating education and career pathways
- Community building and mentorship opportunities
- Access to supports like free counselling services and academic upgrading.
How to apply
Step 1
Determine your eligibility. The program is open to anyone who identifies as a woman and has:
- Grade 10 English or English 10 Camosun Alternative recommended
- Enthusiasm to learn about four technology fields (Civil Engineering, Mechanical
- Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science) in a postsecondary environment.
Step 2
Send a one-page letter of intent that includes:
- Your eligibility as outlined in Step 1;
- A description of why you are interested in the program, and what your future career goals are;
- Description of your past work, and educational experiences;
- Your phone and email contact information; and
- Theprogram and start date you are interested in.

Send your completed letter and a copy of your resume to: witech@camosun.ca
Once your eligibility is confirmed, the coordinator will be in touch via email to arrange an intake appointment.
