All members of the Camosun Community including students, employees, visitors, and guests are invited to visit the Library to add your idea to the decolonizing survey boards.

The library is conducting a survey about what we can do to decolonize our systems, spaces and collections. Everyone (students, all employees, and community members) are welcome to contribute and share ideas! There are 2 ways to let us know what you think:

  1. Visit the library at either campus and add your idea to the decolonizing survey board.
  2. Fill out the .

About the survey

  • Is open to all members of the Camosun Community (including students, employees, visitors, and guests).
  • Is open October 2024 through March 2025.
  • Will have its results reviewed in the summer of 2025.
  • Will have its results shared beginning in the fall of 2025.

This 5 question survey will help us:

  • Gain an understanding of how members of the Camosun community envision decolonization at the Camosun Library. This includes its spaces, services, collections, and more.
  • Make recommendations and implement changes at the library to make its systems, spaces, collections, and services more just, equitable, and inclusive.

Our promise to you

The Library is committed to carefully considering every piece of feedback we receive. The review will start in summer 2025.

Each suggestion will be reviewed and assessed for feasibility, impact and implementation considering the following factors:

  • Alignment with Camosun’s 2023-2028 Strategic Plan and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action.
  • Time and resources (e.g. budget, human resources, other constraints).

Please be patient as we undertake this work. Updates about this survey, your responses, and our next steps will be available in the .

Decolonization is an ongoing process, and we are committed to continually improving our library. We encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas openly. Your voice is essential in helping us create and maintain a library that reflects Camosun’s diverse community!
